How to play Bone Blast
Everything you need for your first game: setup, turn order, card types, and the rules that decide who walks away laughing.
Setup
- 1Sit 2–6 players around a table so nobody can see another hand.
- 2Remove the Blast cards and the Defuse cards from the deck.
- 3Shuffle the remaining deck and deal 5 cards face down to each player.
- 4Give every player 1 Defuse card, then shuffle the leftover Defuses back in.
- 5Shuffle in one Blast card fewer than the number of players, then place the deck face down in the middle.
Playing a turn
1. Play any number of cards
On your turn you may play as many action cards as you like — attacks, skips, swaps, sabotage or peeks. You can also play nothing at all.
2. Draw one card to end your turn
Your turn always ends by drawing the top card of the draw pile into your hand. Play then passes clockwise.
3. If you draw a Blast
Reveal it immediately. If you hold a Defuse, play it, secretly slide the Blast back anywhere in the deck and stay alive. No Defuse means you are out of the round.
4. Keep the pressure on
Attack cards force the next player to take two turns in a row. Skips dodge your draw. Use them to push the Blast onto someone else.
Card types
- Action Cards
- Attack, skip, block and steal. They change who draws next and how often.
- Strategy Cards
- Peek at the deck, reorder the top cards, or force a trade. Timing beats luck.
- Blast Cards
- Draw one and you are out — unless a Defuse is in your hand.
- Defuse Cards
- Cancels a Blast and lets you hide it back in the deck wherever you like.
- Bonus Cards
- Wild twists that bend a rule for one round. Great for a comeback.
Winning
Players are eliminated one by one as Blast cards come out. The last player left in the deck wins the round. Play best of three for a full game night.
Pro tips
- Bluff loudly — nobody can see your hand, so confidence is a weapon.
- Hold your Defuse until the very last moment; announcing it makes you a target.
- When you defuse, hide the Blast one or two cards deep to catch the next player.
- Count the Blasts left in the deck. Late game, every draw is a coin flip.
